Our story starts with that of a single boy who found his way into music... to put it as simply as possible here goes.
Chris Key was a young boy raised in church and on church music. Traditional southern gospel to be exact. His family had a traveling gospel band where he learned to play drums at he age of 5 and so began his love for music.
It wasn't until he was 12 years old hanging out at a friend's house, whose dad (Stanley Latty) played bass in bar bands, listening to all his dad's war stories he knew that was what he wanted to do. At the age of seventeen Chris met another young man named Chaz Osbourne who played guitar and started Chris with three chords. Thats all it took and he was hooked. A year later Chris met Steven Adams , who was a singer, but didn't know how to play an instrument. Chris taught him how to play and they rocked every bonfire that would listen to them. They eventually worked their way to signing with an independent label in Nashville and cut their first album under the name Deuces Wild. It was a great experience for them. The two then met twin brothers Keith and Kevin Elliott who played drums and bass. The band was officially complete, The Deuces Wild. They rocked every mobile home party that would listen until they got a call from a well known bar in Helen, GA. After playing there a couple times they had made it to a regular rotation for years. Steven and Keith decided after a couple years of playing that it was time for them to move on. Thats when they were joined by a talented drummer by the name of David Poole. They kept it going every Friday and Saturday for well over ten years. Around six years into it David left the band and they were then joined by Bryan Skelton, another very talented drummer. They decided to add another guitarist, who became lead guitar, Nick Baum. In 2015 Kevin left the band and they found Kris Davidson, a talented musician who stepped in as the band's bass player. Most recently, Blake Seymore, was added as the new and very talented lead guitarist. Since all the original members had left Chris felt the need for a name change. THE CHRIS KEY BAND was formed.
Chirs Key (Lead Vocals and guitar)
Bryan Skelton (Drums)
Blake Seymore (Lead Guitar, backup vocals)
Kris Davidson (Bass, backup vocals)
In 2018 they decided it was time go beyond the bar walls. Their house gig for over 18 years was officially over. Next step, figure out who they really are as a band, record their original music and play their music all with covers. The sound they have is a cross between Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Otis Redding, Lynard Skynard and Chris Stapleton. They cover genres from country, southern rock, ballads, and soul. Very versatile and professional. Its a very big sound for a four piece band. Be on the lookout for one of our shows... you won't be disappointed....
